In case it isn’t clear, I love me some Chibull.
Of all the toys I own, I think I’ve shot more images of the Chibull than any other.

When I moved from my home of Larimer County, Colorado to Washington state’s Olympic Peninsula in 1999, I did so with an optimism built on the spine of my young family and a sense that I had an opportunity to reinvent myself.
What I didn’t realize at the time was that my young family’s spine was broken even then and that you cannot reinvent what was never completed in the first place.

Here’s a neat little chunk of javascript (click the pic!) I discovered recently (and by that I mean on the net, not by writing it).
This is an admittedly lame use of it, given all the ideas learning of it has generated in me. My daughter and I are in the middle of a project together using said script in a far more creative way that I will reveal here as soon as it is complete.
The script is marketed as a magnifier, not as an x-ray. I like it better as an x-ray. Or whatever it is I have it doing here.
Stay tuned!

Thanks to a post on alt.fan.frank-zappa, I was made aware of an excellent, 3-part documentary series on CBC Radio 2 about Frank Zappa called I am all Day and Night: The Music of Frank Zappa by Philip Coulter (it’s about half way down the page).
This amazing series allows tons of insight into Frank, his vision, and his process, revealed through in-depth interviews with Gail Zappa, Ruth Underwood, Arthur Barrow, Bruce Fowler, Warren Cuccurullo, Steve Vai, and The Man, himself via a previously unreleased, 1992 CBC interview; what better way for a Zappa fan to spend three hours?
There are some other real gems on the page as well: programs on Paul Bley, Daniel Lanois, Don Thompson, and many more. Very cool stuff – check it out!
(trying to figure out how to collect the Zappa content as I type this – the Ruth Underwood bits alone are priceless)

When I first moved into this duplex and was told that I’d have to mow the lawn or pay an exorbitant fee to have it mowed by the landlord (not to mention earn his displeasure), I blanched.
The last lawnmower I owned is a decade gone from my life, and the only tool I’ve been using to coif the hardscrabble, semi-feral patches of flora I’ve since been entrusted to manage is a weed-whacker, now left in the possession of my erstwhile wife. Yet here I am, staring at a yard. A regulation, turfed yard.
