Gehennan Refinery, Spewer of Cities

October 9th, 2011 by Corey A. Edwards

Gehennan Refinery, Spewer of Cities

I’m toying with putting a calendar together of composites/distortions I’ve done and, coming up a bit short of the 12 images I need, I started playing with a few of my existing photos.

One of them made an almost immediate impression on me as a surreal scene of biblical, industrial horror. A couple of hours later and we have the scene above: fantastic, unrealistic, yet somehow evoking in me that sense of ecological nightmare.

Vast stretches of steel, concrete and stone, dimly illuminated by artificial light under a toxic sky, with only a few, meager regions left for poorly maintained agriculture to limp along, almost as an afterthought, on the tortured remnants of dry, scratched earth that remain.

Beautiful, aint it? =)

Into the Out Of

Into the Out Of

I don’t know
but man
it’s like
for me
the deal is
I gotta get
into the
out of
my mind state
to like
be there
without
being there
and then
it’s like
you know?
Yeah.

The Chairman

November 15th, 2009 by Corey A. Edwards

You’ve seen this before – or variations of it, anyway.

This is one of my friends, lovingly referred to by a small knot of Japanese toy fiends as “The Chairman.”

This is an Illustrator illustration (imagine that) of a fellow I used to work with at a bronze art foundry. He was a patineur named Donovon (now he’s a painter named Donovon – hotcha).

Mit

March 6th, 2009 by Corey A. Edwards

This is an Illustrator update of an ink sketch I did in a small notebook a few years back.

The original drawing – a boxing-gloved fist, upraised in triumph – bled through the paper so I used the ghost lines on the other side to create “Mit”.

He has a theoretical counterpart named “Gluff” whom I’ve never drawn.

Aint that fascinating?

Low

This is an Illustrator update of an ink sketch I did in a small notebook a few years back.

The moon is purely digital – the intertwining branches were all of the sketch when I scanned it in.

I could draw things like this every day, had I the time. I wonder why?

Kissie Faces

November 8th, 2008 by Corey A. Edwards

I wasn’t making kissie-faces at the guy.

I just happened to be whistling as I got out of my truck and ended up face to face with him, separated only by his rolled up window.

The Necessary Year – Day 68: And That’s A Wrap

August 7th, 2008 by Corey A. Edwards

(this post is part of an aborted 1 year experiment in material abstinence I called The Necessary Year)

A few of you have written to say “Hey – you’re not posting!” To which I’ve had to reply; “I’m not sure what to do about TNY, now. I mean, it’s not an exercise anymore – it’s reality! Plus I’m totally distracted with my personal life at the moment.”
