Inveterate invertebrates
reverberate inebriatedly
in late hour-debate
the long lines of
their fork tines’
entwined designs
refined by
warm wet wine
and rippled lips
that sipping
grip
scrape and nip
at the wobbling drips
which slip and slop to drop
splashing gaily and
blossom staining
the plain of the
coarse cotton
tablecloth’s demesne

I stumbled across “MODULAR: Sonic Explorations” while hunting for an Eyvind Kang track on YouTube. Situations such as this make me reflect that, while I miss record stores terribly, dammit, I love the internet.

I spent five years in the early/mid 2000’s working at a new age bookstore. While I met some good people during my time there, made some good friends, found many good books and gew-gaws, the bulk of it was spent shaking my head in pained disbelief. A person of my spirituality (zilch) does not belong in such a place but I have to admit I learned a lot about human behavior and got a lot of material. Here is a smidgen from one of my notebooks of the time.

With the holiday season upon us *and* my packing to move, there has been little time or oomph for me to be all bloggy but the madness continues, if in smaller ways.
Here is another batch of Facebook avatars to prove that I am still breathing, if only through my mouth. (the first collections can be seen here and here)
With the introduction of Facebook Timeline, I note that the profile pic has gone down to a square in all but the gallery view so I may have to change up my approach … time will tell.

When I first heard about Yoshida Tatsuya’s “Ruins Alone,” a solo version of the band by its composer and drummer, I have to admit I was dubious. I guess I was expecting something along the lines of John French’s “O Solo Drumbo” – essentially Captain Beefheart songs stripped down to the drums. Interesting but … not necessarily something I listen to very often.
Ruins is primarily known as a Japanese drum and bass unit, cranking out heavy, hard to categorize, start and stop on a dime, jazz/prog/avant-garde music fit for weirdoids like myself.

I fell in love with music very early on in life but, as with the visual arts, never really caught the bug to create any myself until well past said age.
In 1989, I began work as a security guard and there met Bruce Norton, an amateur blues guitarist. In casual conversation with him, I voiced the guitar-playing pipe-dream most young men of our culture have and he assured me that the dream could be realized. In short order, he sold me a guitar and showed me a few tips and tricks.

The bus home is crowded, even though I arrived with many minutes to spare. It is so crowded, I have to take one of the less comfortable seats up front but that’s okay because a cute, young woman arrives thereafter and has little choice but to take the space next to me.
What fun!

A while back I talked about my fascination with skulls and where I thought it came from.
One of the key components of this fascination was described as follows:
