What with all the changes in my life of late – all the new responsibilities, all the new distractions, all the new fun, plus a return to musical expression after a long hiatus – I have very little time, or even inclination to be totally honest, to do much e-shareable creating. That being said, I have kept up with my weekly profile update on everyone’s favorite complete waste of time website, Facebook, and so feel an urge to share here with those who may not have caught sight of my unending brilliance on said site.

First, the last of the silhouette avatars:

Facebook recently switched their layout so that one is now compelled to have both a panoramic as well as a more intimate shot. I kept up with my little blue avatars for a while but, as the new space for said avatars had changed from a rectangle to a more restrictive square, I soon gave up on that approach. It was played out for me, anyway.

For those few space aliens out there not using Facebook, the idea from the collected photos below is that the cube shot will be your avatar throughout the site but, if some poor schmuck decides to visit your Facebook page, they get to see the panoramic shot as well in the configuration. <stimpy>Joy!</stimpy>

Most people post a picture of a sunset, their kids, or their cat on the couch in the panoramic area and then a closeup of their own, lovely mug squirped onto the lower left, refrigerator door-magnet style. Me? I like to mix it up a little bit more than that.

I’m not sure why I feel so compelled to waste as much time as I sometimes do to make these things but I do. It has a lot to do with me maintaining the illusion (see, I *do* know) that I am still being actively creative when, in fact, I really have very little time for such behavior any more. Thus far, I’ve used very few new images, relying instead on my extensive archive of images collected over the years.

Though I like to think of these “timeline” combinations as fun to look at (probably I’m just enjoying staring at my own face) I don’t know that I’ll be plastering my blog with every last stupid one of them that I make after this – just the few that I find especially fun, if those.

I gotta get off my ass and into something more engaging than Facebook …

Part of an ongoing series about the time I waste on Facebook – 1, 2, 3, and 4.
