This is an Illustrator illustration (imagine that) of a fellow I used to work with at a bronze art foundry. He was a patineur named Donovon (now he’s a painter named Donovon – hotcha).
Pictures of finished pieces were frequently taken in order to document them for future reference. Usually they would stand alone in a picture but, on occasion, they might need to be steadied, as in this shot.
Donovon, as I hope is clear, was not thrilled – with the day, the piece, the task at hand, I don’t know.
I did not take this photo – well, actually, I did. I took it right out of the file cabinet before leaving the foundry …
