That being said, there was a lot of flashing on the pieces. This was a particular hassle on the snake, and I ended up spending a lot of time cleaning off flashing.<\/p>\n<p>The kit&#8217;s color was also unimpressive. I prefer a neutral tone as a base and found the green kind of obnoxious. Despite these gripes, everything worked out in the end.<\/p>\n<p>I started off this kit with almost no color scheme in mind. I knew I wanted the snake to be &#8220;rattler&#8221; colored and that was it. Would Angel Fink be green? Purple? Fleshy? What color would the cloak be? I scanned the &#8216;net for inspiration, as usual, but still came away mostly blank.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, the kit just kind of came together in front of me, not at all unlike writing a short story. I slapped a lot of the base colors down as default and went from there. Despite this, I think it came out looking pretty cool.<\/p>\n<h2>Modifications To The Kit<\/h2>\n<p>As I say, this was a very simple kit. The only real &#8220;customizing&#8221; I did was to the Nitro can.<\/p>\n<p>I had an old, 3-color LED unit set aside that I shaved down to fit inside the Nitro can. Then I lightly sprayed some black paint on a small puff of fiberfill and put it on top of the LED unit to represent rising vapor. <\/p>\n<p>I toyed with (and really should have) cutting out the bottom of the Nitro Can base so that button on the bottom of the LED unit could be easily accessed. Instead, I just slid it down inside the can and it can be activated by pressing down on it through the fiberfill. The kit&#8217;s hydrometer (the thermometer looking thing) works well for this purpose.<\/p>\n<h2>&#8220;Big Daddy&#8221; Roth&#8217;s Angel Fink<\/h2>\n<p>This was my first Ed &#8220;Big Daddy&#8221; Roth model kit and I really enjoyed the detail, especially the warty hands.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve another &#8220;Big Daddy&#8221; Roth model kit in the stack and am keeping an eye out for a few of the others.
