Tinfoil! – demo track

Tinfoil demo track by CAEWith “Tinfoil!” I am proud to release my very first wrap song. I’d never really considered being a wrap artist before now, something’s just come over me …

I dunno about you but I grew up in a household that, for at least a little while, used tinfoil. You know, small sheets of tin pressed so thin you can easily wrap them around the tops of containers or sandwiches, items to be frozen, and so forth. Before I was out of grade school, however, tinfoil had been replaced by something superior: aluminum foil.

Well, physically replaced, anyway.

The thing is, the word “tinfoil” was already such a part of the culture that it stuck and remains today, despite the item’s general disappearance. While you can still buy tinfoil (it appears to be exceedingly popular with dentists, for example) most folks do not. They buy aluminum foil … and then refer to it as tinfoil.

In fact, I’m betting all of us do that when referring to a “tinfoil hat.”

Word Nazi

I dislike pedants but can be one when it comes to language.

If you say “bee” when it’s a “wasp,” “jam” when it’s “jelly,” or “frog” when it’s a “toad,” I’ll correct you. Or want to, anyway. This can be a lot of fun in our household, where my wife is a little more casual than I when it comes to such specificity.

Consequently, our two youngest were raised with the word “tinfoil” being regularly employed for what is, in fact, aluminum foil. Over my occasional protests, I might add.

It’s all in good fun, though. How can you be upset with someone who insists on saying “baby cows” over “calves?” It’s ridiculous but it’s also funny and cute and … ah fuck it.

Pass the tinfoil.

Tinfoil!

Tinfoil!
Well, we ain’t had that in years but
Tinfoil!
‘s what we call it up in here
Tinfoil! Tinfoil! Tinfoil!

Tinfoil!
Like a ring-tab, steel can beer
Tinfoil!
Quite confusing to young ears
Tinfoil?
Tinfoil! Tinfoil!

Tinfoil!
Made of aluminum
(wait, what?)
Tinfoil!
Seems I’m always using some!
Tinfoil! Tinfoil! Tinfoil!

Tinfoil!
Makes a nifty ray-block hat
Tinfoil!
or a spacesuit for the cat!
Tinfoil! Tinfoil! Tinfoil!

Tinfoil!
Well, we ain’t had that in years but
Tinfoil!
‘s what we call it up in here
Tinfoil! Tinfoil! Tinfoil!
